Passive counter UAS capture technology

Adage Innovations Australia is developing two passive capture net architectures. They defeat small uncrewed aircraft by mechanical entanglement, and retain them by magnetic attachment. Both are architecture and characterisation intent at prototype and bench stage.

Perimeter architecture is the lead design. Magnetic attachment elements are carried at the periphery of the capture formation. The mesh remains a conventional non conductive polymer. Distributed architecture carries magnetically responsive elements through the mesh itself, extending retention across the whole capture surface. Neither requires conductive fibre. Neither emits. The capture mesh may be polymer, nylon or other netting types.

This page describes the non confidential architecture only.

The device is passive. It carries no transmitter, no receiver, no power source, no software and no data interface. It emits nothing and requires no spectrum licence.

It is an effector, not a complete counter UAS system. The systems integrator or end user tasks it from an existing command and control layer. Adage Innovations Australia does not supply that layer.

Technology readiness is TRL 3. Critical function has been demonstrated at the bench. Components have been characterised individually. No integrated demonstration yet. No fielded performance is stated. No probability of kill is stated. No engagement range is stated.
